THE PROJECT

A clearer home for the art and the business behind it.

CJR Arts needed a more cohesive site for original paintings and custom pet portraits. The redesign brought the portfolio, artist information, and commission content into one consistent experience.

Visitors can now browse the work, understand how commissions work, and submit a detailed request without the site feeling like a generic service business.

My role

From structure to launch.

I handled the full redesign and build.

Site structure & content

Reorganized the site around original work, artist information, and commissions.

Visual design

Created a cleaner visual system that supports the artwork instead of competing with it.

Portfolio & commission pages

Built focused experiences for browsing art and understanding pet portrait commissions.

Commission request workflow

Created a structured inquiry flow for portrait options, timing, delivery, and image uploads.

Responsive & accessible build

Refined navigation, spacing, contrast, keyboard behavior, forms, and mobile layouts.

SEO & launch setup

Prepared metadata, social sharing, alt text, page structure, and launch details.

UX + CONTENT STRATEGY

Keep the art simple. Add detail where it matters.

The experience changes with visitor intent: browsing stays visual, while commission clients get more detail when they need it.

01 — Let the artwork lead

  • The homepage and portfolio use restrained copy and clear navigation so the work stays central
  • 02 — Keep commission details together

  • Pricing, options, timing, delivery, and examples live in one focused pet portrait experience.
  • 03 — Make the inquiry useful

  • The request form gathers the project details needed for follow-up without asking for payment upfront.

BUILD + IMPLEMENTATION

A lightweight WordPress build with custom work where it mattered.

GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks provided the core system, with custom work added where the design or commission experience needed more control.

Reusable block system

  • Reusable patterns and shared styles keep typography, spacing, navigation, cards, and calls to action consistent across the site.

Custom commission form

  • The pet portrait form was customized for clearer field grouping, responsive columns, image uploads, confirmation messages, and formatted email notifications.

Responsive + accessible details

  • Mobile navigation, form layouts, contrast, keyboard states, alt text, and sharing details were refined as part of the final build.

Outcome

A portfolio that now supports the business behind it.

The finished site gives CJR Arts a stronger home for the artwork and a clearer path for custom commissions—without losing the feel of an artist’s portfolio.

What changed

The new site separates browsing from decision-making: portfolio pages stay visual, while the pet portrait experience adds pricing, process details, and a structured inquiry only when visitors need them. The same experience carries cleanly from desktop to mobile.

The site was recently relaunched, so this case study focuses on the design and implementation rather than post-launch traffic or conversion results.
